Water, Wastewater, Sanitation Information:

All new city residents are required to complete a Service Application Card for water, wastewater and sanitation services.  Please visit the Board of Public Utilities Office between 8:00AM and 3:30PM to complete this process.  A $200 deposit is required on all new accounts payable by only cash or check.  A photo Identification is required. ​

Paying Your Bill:  

Portal payments can be made at any time, access the portal HERE. Pay in person at our office during business hours or drop your payment in the deposit box located on the side of the building, to the right of the front doors.  ​

Late Payments:

Residential utilities bills are mailed out the 1st of every month and are due on the 20th of the month. A 10% late fee is automatically applied to the bill on the 21st. Failure to receive your bill does not waive your obligation to make payment when due.

Rates:

As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, some adjustments to our rates went into effect on January 1, 2024, in accordance with Ordinances
116.23 and 117.23. This means reflected on your February bill you can expect the following small increases:

-An $8.62 base rate increase, in addition to the following related to usage;
- $5.99 for sewer service
- 3% for all water and sanitation services
- $1.50 for storm sewer services

Billing Process for Water

Water meters are read on a monthly basis.  Wastewater charges are based on water consumption.

Service Shut Offs

Service will be subject to disconnect for non-payment of bill, after the 21st of the month. To restore service there is a reconnection fee of $50.00 added to the total sum due.
Service workers will not knock on your door prior to disconnecting your service, and they are not permitted to accept utility payments. However, to reconnect service a responsible party must be home at the time of reconnection.

City Water Distribution

The City of London Water Distribution System consists of 3/4" to 14 inch diameter size water lines through-out the city. Types of pipe consist of galvanized, cooper, cast iron, and ductile iron pipes.

The distribution system receives it's water from six underground wells at the water treatment plant. The City of London Ohio Water Department crews are responsible for water main breaks, repairs to the water system, water meters, fire hydrants repairs, and the maintenance to the Water Plant itself.

For emergency issues, call the Waste Water Plant at 740-852-0279.  If no answer, contact the Police Dispatch at  740-852-1414. 

The City of London Sewer Collection System serves an estimated population of 10,000 with a total incorporated area of 8.5 square miles. The City also provides sewer services outside the city corporation limits to the London and Madison County Corrections Institutions. The collection system is comprised of approximately 44.9 miles of sewer lines consisting of clay, concrete and plastic materials. The sizes range from 6 inches to 24 inches in diameter. 

The City of London is responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of the City of London Ohio sewer collection system. Property owners are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of the sewer lines from their respective houses to the City sewer line.

The City Sanitation Department picks up waste Monday through Friday .  Click here to view your pick-up schedule.

Bulk Waste

Bulk waste items include objects such as household appliances, furniture, and mattresses. Call the Board of Public Utilities Office to schedule a specific pick-up time. 

Recycle Pickup

Protect our community - place all recyclables, such as plastic, metal, paper and more, into your recyclable bin.

Yard Waste 

The Sanitation Department will pick up yard waste, trimmings, leaves etc. at no cost.  Contact the Board of Public Utilities Office to arrange for special pick up. 

City of London citizens may also take waste directly to the Sanitation site at 233 Jenkinson Avenue by presenting a bill as proof of residency.
