Infant Death

London Fire & Police personnel were dispatched to an unresponsive six month old male infant at a residence in the 100 block of N Oak St. on Sunday March 14th, 2021 at approximately 10:51hrs.

The infant was transported to Madison Health where he was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation by the Madison County Coroner and London Police indicated the death appears to be accidental. The initial investigation showed that the infant was sleeping in an adult bed and moved enough to a position against the mattress and pillows, causing the infant to suffocate.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office before a final report is released by the Madison County Coroner.

Police, Health Professionals and Children’s Service agencies remind parents and caretakers to practice the ABC’s of safe sleep when it comes to infants; alone, on their back and in a crib. If you know of parents needing assistance or unsafe conditions, please contact your local children’s service agency.
