Infant Transported to Children's Hospital

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

London Fire & Police personnel were dispatched to an unresponsive seven week old female infant at a residence in the 200 block of S Oak St. on Friday March 26th, 2021 at approximately 0740hrs. A responding police officer started CPR on the non-breathing infant and handed her over to medics. The infant was transported to Madison Health ER and developed a pulse and started breathing again. She was then transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The preliminary investigation by police indicated the infant was sleeping with the mother and was found unresponsive by another adult in the residence. The incident remains under investigation by London Police and the Madison County Department of Job and Family Services.

Police, Health Professionals and Children’s Service agencies again strongly stress to parents and caretakers to practice the ABC’s of safe sleep when it comes to infants; alone, on their back and in a crib. If you know of parents needing assistance or unsafe conditions, please contact your local children’s service agency.
