Officer Involved Crash

This morning, July 1st, 2023 at approximately 2:49am, an officer in a marked patrol vehicle was struck nearly head on by a suspected impaired driver on W High St., near Midway St. The impaired driver then struck a utility pole. The driver, a 24 year old female was transported to OSU Medical Center with serious visible injuries by London EMS. The officer was treated and released from Madison Health with minor injuries. The crash and incident is being investigated by the Ohio State Patrol.
Needless to say this is not starting the holiday week in a safe manner. Please, do not drink and drive; and wear your seat belt. If you are with impaired friends and allow them to drive or are serving impaired drivers, you too are part of the problem. We are thankful the officer was able to react to take some evasive action, reducing the potential for serious injury.
